The fictional version of their team still gives us cuddly feelings towards them.
In reality, we like Hiller. Last season he was a tank and we rooted for him for as long as we could. Corey Perry is pretty hot right now, and Getzlaf has been money as well. While it isn't the most important of games, no game is ever a throwaway. We need each point, just in case a drought occurs mid-season like it did last year. Cross yourselves and pray to Curry that it never comes to that again, but still, we need to get two points in the games where we SHOULD be getting two points, and this is one of them.
But hey there, Corey Perry. When you get back West on West games, by all means, continue the ass kicking.Anyway, who doesn't love a Western road trip? We get to see teams we never get to see, and the days feel longer when games start at 10:00. And we have kind of been the shit on the road this season thus far. We're excited to see if it continues.
Now, back to fictional land.

Banks or Conway? Is this some sort of joke? the Ducks are nothing without Banks. They need him in every movie to win the big game.
Conway doesn't even PLAY in the game against Iceland. What, he sits so Banks can play... that's not leadership, that's stupidity... you're tellin me Connie Moreau couldn't sit instead? Was Guy Germaine such an essential piece of their powerplay that he couldn't sit? No. Geez, gimme a break. Like he couldn't draw up a play while wearing pads.. And you think Conway could even sniff Varsity? Not a chance.
And don't even get me started on Bombay... you have your enforcers to protect your star players (Banks), and yet you don't even put them on the ice at the same time! No wonder he kept getting injured.. derrrr. Bombay was too soft. He was basically Eddie Olczyk. Look how soft the team was when Orion took over, who somehow got them to play two-way hockey. A Bombay-coached Ducks team would've been decimated by the Varsity.
They should just rename the movie franchise "The Mighty Banks"

@ meecrofilm That is a fantastic rant that you have there and I totally agree. Charlie was my least favorite charcter because of being such a whine ass. And as far as the actual Ducks go, I will cope to actually liking them at least a little bit. Although Ryan Getzlaf reminds me of the guy that you see in the bar talking about his glory days as the quarterback of his high school football team even though he hasn't done shit since graduating. I really think it's the fact that he seems to be balding or at least have a receding hairline that makes me think this even though he isn't that old.
I hate to rain on the parade of a good post with pedantism, but we play the Ducks twice this year. Actually, twice in November! We play them in Anaheim tonight, and at home on the 16th.

I'll argue for banks in the first two movies. It's funny because I hated D3 when it first came out, but after going years without seeing, a friend of mine convinced me that I should give it a try. During the Cup finals this year, I watched all three mighty ducks movies. My opinion of D3 has changed a lot, and well Charlie grows up in that movie and somehow redeems himself. I would dare to say that D3 is probably better than D2.
While on the topic of Mighty Ducks, did anyone notice how Crosby's fight from Saturday night was something straight from D2? You know the whole Stick-Gloves-Shirt thing.
I will be the lone voice of dissent and say Charlie, because Josh Jackson = the Canadian dream.
Sometimes I manage to forget that I'm ancient compared to pretty much everyone else who comments here, but then a post like this will come along and throw it in my face. I think I saw the first Mighty Ducks movie at some point. I'm pretty sure I was in high school when the sequels came out.
Whatevs. I fucking hate the Ducks. I look forward to the Pens kicking their asses.
