kind of a big deal

Before we get into the particularities of this game, now is probably a good time to be doing something we've been meaning to do for a long time, but have forgotten, due to PH Crisis Mode and general fucking around.
And that's give a much-deserved shameless plug to our good friend Travis' site
The Goon Blog
His last post is about what a beast Mike Rupp is (and was written before last night's display of awesome) so we figure it's apropos.
Travis' writing is always solid as hell.
(You may know him as The Goon Blogger; in which case, you know he is extremely qualified on the subject.)
Check that shit out.

Anyway!

Today is a special recap. We're going to kick it off with a
PRETTY PARTY!
SEAN YOU LOOK SO PUT-TOGETHER TODAY
Awww Sean-Sean don't cry! You know there are much more beautiful sights to come!
That's right, we invited Marc-Andre to the Pretty Party too. Do something.

Whew! Now that that's over, on to the game:
Gaborik was everywhere, understandably. Empty Netters even went so far as to say that if he stays healthy he'll nab a Hart Trophy nom. Eh. Maybe.
At least he got a First-Goal-of-the-Game Nom.
NOMNOMNOM

It was 1-0. Mike Rupp buried his first of the evening, unassisted by the press.
Rags go for it yet again:

SEAN AVERY PRETTY PARTY INTERLUDE
His mouth is like a chasm of death.

Wait, Mike Rupp? You have two? Shit. We were so blinded by the chasm of death that we probably weren't paying appropriate attention. 3-2 now? Really?

Cappy invites MaxTal to the pretty party, too. They look so pleased with life.

At the end of the game, Crosby goes all Leadership on us, and hands Mike Rupp the empty netter.
How humbling of him to doubt his accuracy.

PRETTY PARTY 2.0
PENS WIN
5-2
Hat trick for Mike Rupp.
MSG's three stars were startlingly well-chosen, but then again, it's pretty obvious considering the scoring summary.

What did you think of the Pretty Party?
We'll have more stunning original content for you tomorrow.
WOOOOO
GO PENS.

Our boys looked like they were having such a good time at the Pretty Party last night.

There were lots of party games like - Poke the MSG Balloon (Sid won this game in something like 11 seconds) - Poke the Punk (Flower won this game) - Pin The Tail on the Rangers (Ruppers nailed this one.)

Such a fun time!

Pretty parties require blingee-worthy alcohol.

I enjoyed the hell out of this. Of course, I would've enjoyed the hell out of discussing the game with the Rangers fans at my work, but for some reason, they didn't wanna.

I didn't intern at Vogue or anything, but I really think Avery's black mouthguard is an unfortunate fashion choice. Makes him look like there's nothing left to protect. Of course, Avery makes lots of unfortunate choices. I love how our boys made him pay for a few of them!

Gaborik was, like, the only non-embarrassing Ranger.

I kinda wish Rupp had gotten that first hat trick on hat night at Mellon Arena, but he really seemed happy enough just to score it, and I loved how happy the rest of the team was for him. And he did it on a hurt knee...and his son hoped for just the one goal for his birthday...Rupp didn't just win the game, he won being human.

I named the cocktail after him. (Posters at Pensburgh sarcastically referred to him as "Noted goal scorer Mike Rupp" after the first Pens goal or two. It's not sarcastic anymore.) This is what my brother and I came up with after wondering why tea isn't often used as a mixer. It's not pretty like AmyB's drink (what *is* that, anyway?), but if you like lime and iced tea, it does taste good.

The Noted Goal Scorer

1 shot Tanqueray Rangpur or other lime-flavored gin

About 6-8 ounces brewed Earl Grey tea

Teaspoon of lime juice

Sugar or Splenda to taste

Combine ingredients in a tumbler half filled with ice, stir. It gets no easier.

My FIRST Blingee! It's on the lite side but I'll get better as I go.

Someday I'll figure out how to make this a link.

Yeah, that worked well . . . be patient, I'm at work and shouldn't even be doing this. Here's the link in pieces. Hope to hell it all shows up this time.

Help! Blingee post emergency!!

Regarding the pictures of Sid and Rupp celebrating: Rupp proposes to Sid, then Sid checks to see if he got him pregnant.

@Need Ice: Google "HTML link code." That should help.

Oh, and I love the sparkles above Avery's head.

@JSt11

Actually, I heard Ruppers had a thing for BillyG. This could get ugly.

LOL!

@TP

Thanks for the help. I knew I could count on you.

I loved that photo. Orps looked fierce and Flower was just Flower. Great shot!
