ALL HAIL THE PHOENIX COYOTES

I mean of course we had faith that the Yotes would destroy the Predators, because the Predators are secretly awful in many ways. We love them but hate them just a smidge more. ANYWAY. So that happened.

Shane Doan has been a member of this franchise since being drafted 7th overall by the Jets in 1995. He has never been out of the first round until this year. He has an NMC. Say what you will about the fact that he is kind of an ass on the ice sometimes. . .that's loyalty.

His parents are named Bernie and Bernice. That is kind of amazing, too.
Doan becomes a UFA after this season. Not that the Coyotes don't have a shitton of money to spend whenever they want. But this might be his last chance to win with the team he grew up on.


Big questions: how did the Coyotes win this series? And how will they win a potential series against the Kings, who are unimaginably hot and have become the first 8th seed in history to eliminate both the #1 and #2 seeds? (Not that the Canucks really count--lol.)
Well, it really comes down to team defense. The Coyotes' game isn't always pretty, but every player knows how to go after the puck--whether that means using the stick or taking the body. They're playing super physical and going after pucks like their lives depend on it. Nashville had very little room towards the end of this series as the Coyotes got to their game, so to speak, to use an old and tired phrase. And when they didn't Mike Smith was a mother fucking destructive tornado powered by tears and thick gorgeous hair.
Mostly tears.

How can you not be happy for these fans?
The fact that the Western team in the Final will be a team that has never won anything is very amazing and special. Either way, it's going to be an amazing story.

Hoping for a Rangers/Devils East final. It's going to be a really interesting ride.

Also, the Coyotes ownership woes may finally be over. Awwwooooo.
